I've helped a lot of people ID LEGO sets from photos they've sent me, but this is the first time someone sent me a drawing of a LEGO set!

Lesson: don't give up, take a well deserved break and continue

In Germany we have a saying: Sometimes you cannot see the forest because of all the trees". It means you are so deep into a problem that you cannot consider other POV's or look at it with a fresh angle.

The lesson: if you can’t find it in Lego then it might be mega bloks

Yeah someone said it already if you can't go anywhere take a break from it, breathe, recoup. More often than not your answer will come to you. It came to you in a store and you found it, great stuff there.

Sometimes you have to stop working on a problem in order for your subconscious to figure it out. You're smarter than you think 😅

Lesson I take from this 'If after looking at something for too long, take a break and then come back with a fresh mind and eyes'

If you haven't already, could you explain why your glasses are the way they are?

I had the bucket as a hand me down. I remember submitting a picture of my creation of some space base with it as the landscape to the Lego magazine ~2005 and got a response back that it couldn’t be published because it used third party bricks. First time I realized that just because it fit didn’t mean it was Lego.

Honestly, this can help with so many roadblocks in life. When you’ve hit wall after wall on trying, the stress actually reduces your abilities. Stepping away from the situation and resuming normal life and coming back after it’s left your brain for a while allows you to see the situation with fresh eyes. It’s why for big papers and stuff they tell you to finish 2 weeks ahead of time & set it aside and then come back for revisions a few days before it’s due.

It applies to so many scenarios in life. Everything from learning a new skill to human reproduction.

I also had a mega blocks bucket when I was a kid. I used to make little christmas villages under the tree with it. It had pastel colored bricks and square plates that could hinge together. It’s one reason why I knew it wasn’t Lego.
