How We Treat Ourselves

My topic for tonight, what I've been thinking about today, and what I want to talk about in the meditation, we're going to do loving kindness. The Buddhist word is metta, loving kindness meditation. It's going to be about how we treat ourselves, how we feel about ourselves.

Where are you today on self kindness? How friendly are you to people? How are you to people that are confused? How are you to people that annoy you?

Wonderful session, Noah! I have been feeling resentment lately toward my partner, after noticing he was becoming increasingly insecure and taking a lot of things personally. I was angry that he was lashing out and being more self-absorbed, and this session called me out on my resistance. Your analogy of treating others as if you were their loving parent really hit home as a way to have compassion for those who act with less mindfulness. You also reminded me that the behavior I was resisting is very human, and that my path to become more mindful and kind to others IS revolutionary, and not typical, BUT I have no right to say that they're doing it 'wrong'. Just what I needed. I am so grateful for your blunt and edgy approach to Buddhism. Keep being awesome. 🤟
