I just installed this tailgate assist from Rough Country. Very easy to install on my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. I had to use an impact driver to get more leverage to spread open the rivet nut but not to overtighten it. Then I followed it up with a ratchet. I bought this tailgate assist because my 5 year old son decided to open the tailgate and it almost bopped him on the head. 😊 This solved the problem.

Why was there 2 holes in the bracket? Is that included in the kit? If so that would would work. A Colorado users group is telling owners we have to drill that (if not already included) in order to make it fit the 2024 models. Do you think that modification would work for my truck?

Please add torque spec for rivet when installing this way
Dang near blew mines out

Also top or bottom hole depend on the year

My 08 Silverado goes into bottom hole of bracket not the top hole
