Landslides pose new threat amid California wildfires

A potential risk of landslides is posing a new threat stemming from the California wildfires, caused by all of the water used to fight the flames. CBS News' Rob Marciano has the latest.

It will come. It came in 1992-1994. It was wildfires first, landslides next, then the January Earthquake in Northridge. It was living through hell. People were joking about making T-Shirts about surviving the fires of 92, floods of 93 and Earthquakes of 94. 😢. When there is no groundcover in Malibu the ground becomes very unstable. Come the rainy season the hills will come down.

People not planning ahead for flooding and droughts, and for LA waxy plants adapted to droughts that burn hotter, especially with a strong wind from the desert to the north. Both places need zoning laws to prevent the next disaster, but they will likely not happen because people like free to be dumb, then beg the federal disaster agencies for free help after their obvious gambling fails.
