Buying a new gun when your kid is displaying "concerning behavior" and then letting him have access to it like that is a pretty dumb idea...

It's true "it could have been much worse" but they don't have to say it, I am sure the family of the victims will not agree.

As a student myself in Michigan, not only are those students traumatized ALL the schools in Michigan are. I was taking finals today and all I hear over the loudspeaker is that we will be having police all over our building because we had a shooter threat. I go to school to learn not worry about if I’m gonna come home afterwards or not. It’s heartbreaking.

The parents showed NO responsibility towards this kid. They totally brought him up the wrong way. Apparently neither parent was brought up the right way either. I hope they throw the book at them. It will be heart wrenching for the friends of the kids who lost their lives but mostly for the families of those that lost their children. Our children are NOT safe in schools. We need help and we need our schools made safer.

The fact that we are so desensitized that four people are dead and we say “it could have been worse” so many kids who did survive are traumatized and so many families will never see their child/family member. No for them it couldn’t be worse.

Bruh I just figured out the parents bought the gun for him as a Christmas gift and ignored disturbing drawings he drew of his gun, thankfully the parents are being held accountable

I grew up around guns and have been hunting since I was old enough to have memories.. Never been around someone that used a gun irresponsibly. It's all about what you teach your children about the firearm and the power that comes with wielding one. It's not to be abused, but to be respected and treated with the utmost of care. So happy to see the parents have been arrested and charged! They enabled all the switches for this situation to happen.

I think charging the parents is exactly the right thing to do in this case. They knew their kid wasn't mature enough to have access to a gun. It is very sad I can't imagine what the family's are feeling right now. In my opinion the law is handling it in the right manner maybe if more parents are held accountable for the actions of their kids they would pay closer attention to what their kid is doing. There needs to be very harsh consequences for this family it's time to make people accountable

My heart hurts for those kids. 16, 17 and 14 are just too young. They had so much to experience and live. That's so sad. Rest in peace.

“This could have been much worse”

You wouldn’t say that if your child was one of the dead, it couldn’t have been any worse.

Charge the parents! As a gun owner myself you need to be responsible for securing your firearms which includes being held responsible if they fall into the wrong hands because of your negligence.

Edit: Well this kinda blew up but I just felt the need to add that this shouldn’t be political. Political views are irrelevant in this situation. I’m all for the second amendment but as a wise man with a spider for a nephew once said, “with great power, comes great responsibility.” If you choose to own a gun you also carry the responsibility of what happens to that gun if it falls into the wrong hands because you didn’t secure it properly. I think that in the 2A lifestyle/community all agree that the majority of gun owners try to be responsible and people like this make the rest of the responsible gun owners look bad.

This is definitely a parental issue. Regardless of how you feel about guns or gun safety. This kid was obviously either not taught or not capable of understanding the value of life and the finality of death. I have a hard time believing that the parents didn't see this lack of basic respect and decency towards others manifest itself in other ways in the last 15 years of living with that child. I can't believe that a responsible person would give anyone any sort of weapon knowing that individual had issues.

No one wants to address the elephant in the middle of the room... Why did they feel so comfortable not reporting his behaviors and/or social media posts the day before this all happened. I have watched seven year old children put in handcuffs in their schools for simply having a tantrum. Make it make sense. But nobody can't tell me that this nation is not deteriorating and disintegrating before our very eyes. It's upside down, and there's more to come, unfortunately.

Thank God I managed to survive my 12 grade years. Praying my brothers and everyone else can get through their years without a tragedy
