This is possibly the best guitar lesson I've found on the web, I've been struggling a lot with finger placement, this video completely solved that :-) Going to buy some courses on your website!

For finger tips placement: put ur finger on the string and try different pressure levels at different distance from the fret: see how close you should play with to get good sound at the least fatigue.

As a self-taught (still in the process) guitarist in the initial stages, I would say this is a must-see lesson for EVERY budding guitarist who's learning by themselves. Incorporate every single part of the technique emphasized in the tutorial and you are well set to have good technique on the fingering hand.
The natural (and intuitive) way till be to play with the flat part of the finger and griping the neck with the palm. That way you'll hit a ceiling quickly.
Very nice lesson and thank you! :)

Transitioning from piano to guitar. This was very helpful. Kinda learned the hard way that the hand techniques are different. 😂

I am not sure why most people do not talk about keeping the wrist as straight as possible to avoid using too much thumb pressure. If you press too hard with the thumb you can cause tendon injuries at the base of the thumb. If you bend the wrist too much for long periods, you can get carpal tunnel syndrome. I had to learn the hard way. I hope I can help one person with this advice and also always beware of tension in your body and hands. It is not necessary for the pressure needed to press a string to the fretboard. I’m recovered and playing again with many changes that fit my physiology. Take care of your body if you want to play for a long time without injuries. Other than those issues, great video.

This was a GREAT technique tip! I'm a 2 week beginner, and this made a HUGE difference. The tip on how the thumb puts pressure on the other fingers by proper placement was just what I needed. THANKS!!!

I can't seem to get my wrist angle right, I have to turn it to a really steep angle to pay a lot of chords which causes me a lot of pain. Does anyone have any advice (preferably another person with very small hands)?

Thank you for taking the time to explain the “why”. You explained it so well and in such a short amount of time.
Thank you

moving from drums and piano to guitar - this was so helpful. It also made me realize I have a habit of tilting the guitar up at myself so I can see the frets - and that's what's causing my wrist pain

This is an older video, but just what I needed. Even my guitar teacher didn’t have a great answer for thumb placement. This makes perfect sense and why I’m struggling.

This is the video I've been looking for. You look at other guitar channels such as MartySchwartz and their first beginner lesson is on things such as chords and tuning the guitar and they don't even teach you the most basic principle of how to hold the guitar and how to position your fingers on the neck. Thank you very much for this!

I didn't know why my guitar sounded muted. I needed to press the string against the fingerboard to get a good sound. Thank you!
