Music: “The Intruder” – Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio

In 1872, a ghost ship was discovered drifting in the Atlantic Ocean. The Mary Celeste had a crew of 10, including Captain Benjamin Briggs, his wife Sarah, and their two year old daughter Sophia. They were nowhere to be found. Neither was the lifeboat.

The strange thing about that is the Mary Celeste was found in seaworthy condition. There was damage to some of the sails but all necessary equipment to navigate was still intact. There was no apparent reason to abandon ship. All the crew’s personal items, including clothing, money, and provisions were still on board. There was also no sign of a struggle or violence of any kind. The ship could have made it to a number of safe ports in its condition. The last entry on the ship’s log was dated November 25, 1872, just 9 days before it was discovered floating without its crew. It contained no clues to their fate.

There have been a lot of theories put forth, including piracy, mutiny, icebergs, severe weather, even UFOs and giant squid attacks... but the mystery remains.

What could have caused an experienced captain to abandon a seaworthy ship in the middle of an ocean, with his own wife and child aboard?

What do you think?

It was probably a buildup of fumes from the alcohol that they were carrying. Fearing potential poisoning or an explosion, they likely went out on the lifeboat, tethered to the ship, but due to extreme weather that rolled in they got separated from the ship and were lost. There's a YouTube channel called Part-Time Explorer that talks about this in detail.

They could of been locked in sea ice, unable to sail for months. You have to abandon ship or starve (rations only last so long)....then the thaw comes and the ship ends up floating out in perfect condition but by that time, the people are gone. Its actually been recorded to have happened to a few other "ghost ships" that have been found crewless.

Maybe they just jumped out to swim but then couldn’t climb back up the sides, that’s happened so many times, there’s even a movie about it

Why were the sails damaged? From what?

Who came up with the iceberg theory?
I mean there would've been damage to ship and there was none except to the sails.

Definitely wasn’t pirates if their money and belongings were still aboard the ship….. Pirates were known thieves and would’ve taken everything they could, if not even the ship so that’s excluded.

Didn't someone just pull u on a ghost while on jet ski just recently. Second 👁️ find it funny of the names of the family upon the ship and the ship itself. Mary, Sophia, Sarah and B.B. all under the celestial 13. Mother Mary, Sarah wife of one of the original 7 Prince of hell, Sophia mother of yagaldabroth and B.B Aka Benjamin Briggs Aka Beelzebub.🖖🏿👁️🧠
