you add and divide for the mean say you have 6 numbers you add them all up and divide by 6. if you have to find the difference between 2 means you find the mean of both and subtract eg if you have a mean of 15 and a mean of 10 15 minus 10 is 5 The median is the middle if you have 6 numbers its between the 3rd and the 4th if there are 7 in the sequence the median is the 4th 3 from right then 3 in from the left then the number left is the median.

Great explanation! I have a problem to solve & it's what is the average (arithmetic mean) 8, 7, 7, 5, 3, 2, 2? My answer is 5, I actually came up with 34/7 which is 4.8 in decimal form. In order to throw me off included in my answer options are; B is 4 5/7, C is 4 6/7, & D is 5... My answer is still 5! Correct?
