Best tip for I mission I would say is be worthy and understand repentance and the atonement. Doing so will make waking up not a problem and simply just motivate you to improve!

Commit to excellence and exact obedience. You will face a lot of peer pressure on your mission. Knowing you serve Jesus Christ - and being committed to that is what will help you be successful. No matter what does or doesn't happen you will know you gave your all and you will feel you were successful when you place him at the center of what you do. 💛 Don't let struggling companions or slacker missionaries influence you in being less stalwart - it's worth it I promise. And you can be a blessing in their lives and help them rediscover their commitment to the savior if they let you. 😁 Best advice I got and it served me well. Don't expect other missionaries to always be out there for the right reasons - but you make sure you are. You'll never regret standing strong and working for Jesus Christ.

My best tip would be to educate yourself. on the versions of the 1st vision. On the pair of sisters Joseph adopted and then, married. And ask why he wasn’t sealed to Emma first as his beloved but was sealed to his other wives first. Which version of the 1st vision do you tell your investigators? I’ve read the BofM more times than I can count in my 27 years as a member, but didn’t educate myself thoroughly. ❤best of luck elder!

Listened 3/4 through. Yep, I call these things adult hood and accepting responsibility. Governing your life so you can meet your obligations. These are tough things for the younger generation. Boot camp, many had never made their own bed.

Just a reminder that pornography addiction can not be diagnosed by a bishop. If you think you have an addiction, you need to talk to a therapist or psychiatrist, not a bishop that has no training in that field.

Be prepared that your fellow missionaries will be unprepared. 9/10 of them will be weak. Demand that your mission president hold them accountable. Let him know on day one that you’re not a babysitter. Gauging your successes based on those you serve with will assure that your mission was nothing like it could have been if you’d have listened to the spirit. Don’t be afraid to question your leaders if the spirit is guiding. Keep the rules.

On your mission, you will encounter potential converts who know more than you about the messiness of LDS history. For example, that Joseph used a Peep Stone in a hat to translate the Book of Mormon; or that Joseph secretly married a 14 year old girl, and lied about it to Emma. These facts have been known to LDS historians for generations, but outside the sanitized correlated version of Church history, the LDS chapel Mormon has not knowledge. You can always see the Church essays--which have never been mentioned in General Conference--on topics that used to be "anti-Mormon lies" but are now acknowledged as true in the Church essays, viz. Joseph's use of the Seer Stone and his family history in necromancy and treasure digging; or the Church essay on Joseph's having married at least up to 40 wives, conservatively.

For anyone who has been or is involved in pornography, please talk to your bishop and (if applicable) your parents. I can say from personal experience that having the guidance of your bishop when repenting of something as serious as pornography is extremely helpful. There is no reason to be scared either; your bishop will not condemn you.

please someone read this i am a struggling member. i am going to serve a mission in the next 4-5 months. i am questioning my faith in the church but i don’t want to leave. i am currently struggling with pornography and masturbation. i have talked with my bishop who is also my dad about it a week ago. i got a blessing too. i still feel the same tho. i confessed my sins and got a blessing that i had faith in yet i am still choosing the wrong decisions when it comes to pornography. i just don’t know what to do. i’m going to sacrifice 2 years of my life to go on a mission and the closer it gets the more i don’t want to go. i feel as if pornography wasn’t a problem i wouldn’t think this probably. i just need help. someone to talk to really, so if there is a member out there who’s willing to help, i would appreciate it a lot. i just want to feel the spirit again
