Bayonne to St-Jean-Pied-d-Port, France 2024 - Day 8

After a wander around the Saturday morning markets and cafe au lait, we headed to the train station for a short (just over an hour) journey to St Jean Pied de Port (or SJPDP). A quaint little town with lots of shops, including outdoor gear stores and had a lovely lunch and beer, picked up some supplies, and lined up for our Pilgram passports. These are stamped each day along the walk and if you reach Santiago De Competela then you can obtain a certificate certifying you have walked the way. We met several other pilgrims in the queue and could feel the buzz of excitement and anticipation amongst the crowd.

We checked in to our hotel - Hotel Itzalpea (well we found the keys to the hotel and our room which were left for us - never saw any staff there!) and went to meet Eileen and Hugh before having dinner and hitting the sack!
