As a bus driver, we have no rights or control. The kids and parents know that. Situations like this is a perfect example. There are many reasons to have to slam on the brakes as a school bus driver. Animals, darting kids, bad drivers, high pitch screams, ect....But if those kids were sitting properly they wouldnt of got even an acge in their toe. And when the kids act up. Guess who gets in trouble???

This is what I don't understand, even when I used to take the bus in school, the kids would usually go crazy and fight the bus driver. Kids would wad up paper and toss it at the driver, start fights with other kids, and harass the bus driver. Here's a driver, probably at the breaking point, kids harassing her, calling her names or whatnot, and she probably takes control of the situation and gets arrested! Busdrivers have no rights.

You have to have the patience of a Saint to be a bus driver.

Been there done that drove a school bus for 8 months NEVER again. Try to discipline kids driver just got in trouble. Had kids trash the bus on purpose I ask them to stop or get written up next move their parents are coming after me yelling at me one crazy mom tried to board my bus. Getting spit on and fellow drivers being punched unconscious by kids playing knock out did it for me quit on the spot i happily drive tractor trailers now

A bus driver? Really? If she was an officer she'd be rewarded with a paid vacation. Where's her gofundme.

The seats should have shock leads in them. If they act up. Zap em.

Back in 1995, going 55 mph down hwy 51 on our way home from school, another student attempted to walk from the front of the bus to the back, and the driver slammed on the brakes, that kid went flying to the front of the bus, all of his stuff went flying everywhere, not once did anybody get into any trouble, because the driver was the adult and we are the children. There was never any outrage, one kid got a bloody nose from hitting the seat in front of him. Same bus driver still picked us up everyday and dropped us off for years after the incident. We grew up understanding that children are to be seen, not heard, all adults where always 100% correct and us children were in the wrong.

Seat belts on the schools bus would have protected all these kids! Isn't the safety of the kids number one? Shouldn't we have camera on the busses to protected the drivers and kids?

I don’t imagine driving a bus full of kids can be the most delightful thing and I kind of understand why she did it but still you don’t do that

I told you these kids are so bad I couldn't be a bus driver. A person can only take so much. Add Covid-19 on top of that smh But she should of quit vs hurting these kids. But ppl wonder why there is a bus driver shortage....

I hope every driver in every city and every state walk out. These districts already don't pay enough money nor give enough benefits worth continuing to drive. Every district across this county is already short drivers for school buses and public buses. They keep on none of these companies will have drivers

Oh dear, school bus driving sucks, the struggle is real, why do you think there is a nationwide shortage? The drug test and sleep study are 2 more reasons. That and nobody wants to do it, they're stuck with it unless they get fired

I drove a school bus for ten years and during that time I had one fight (middle school), one unpleasant interaction with a parent and no reprimands from my company as a matter of fact whenever a sub had to drive my route they always commented on how well behaved my kids were. I achieve this with communication with kids and parents. The very first day I drove a bus I pulled the bus into a parking lot and introduced myself to the kids. I explained the rules of the bus and how punishment would be administered if the rules were broken. I also sent copies of the rules and disciplinary actions home to the parents. In my district you can put your bus on silence if the children are too noisy. Once my kid realized I was serious about their safety they settled down and our time together was a pleasant experience for all. Not saying there weren't bumps along the way to utopia but I wouldn't trade my time as a bus driver for anything. I really should teach a training class for drivers.

Why weren't the little angels 😢 wearing their seat belts? I had three rules back in the day when I drove a school bus.
1. Sit down.
2. Shut up.
3. Hold on.

No surprise, bad @ss kids would trigger anyone. I remember one time while riding in the back of a pickup a teen threw a pair of scissors at me, I had the bus chased down so I could have a word with the driver over their un monitored behavior.
