It hurts me when she says they, her parents, are very devout Christians. As a more spiritual than Christian person and the reason I say I’m spiritual, is the environment of Christianity and peoples reactions to things like alienating others because they’re married to a Jewish person or someone of another race. Truly hurts my soul. I understand that they don’t want their child to be influenced by a religion that they don’t understand and make not effort to. It’s just another form of racism. Jesus lived and ministered to all people. Even those that society shunned. People, how can you call yourself a devout Christian if you can’t be less judgmental based on someone’s culture? Where in God’s word does it say that this or that religion is only truly connected to God? I’m afraid that so many people have convinced themselves that we/they are right with God, but their action speak for themselves and it ends up badly. Separated from God?!
