Great video, lots of conflicting info (from seemingly solid sources) on this subject all over the interwebs. I just crossed 40k and this has been on my radar. Thanks

Thanks man, much appreciated! I will stick with the OEM plugs ;-)
Interesting to hear the replacement interval BMW recommends. My BMW dealer (Europe, The Netherlands) recommends to replace mine before the end of this year when my 440i is three years old and has done about 50k km's (31k mls).

I replaced my factory plugs with Ngk G power...runs smoother 😊

Solid video and honestly everything he has said is backed by my mechanic and that says a lot. Thanks buddy.

I bought both sets of the champion and NGKs to compare. Noticed the NGK has a 0.030 gap while the champions have about 0.24.

Can you go through maintenance interval for stock vs tuned? That would definitely be a helpful FAQ for future viewers as well as subscribers

97506 was definitely the plug to run in the N54 days

My G32 b48 had genuine Champions, but I replaced them with NGKs, the engine ran much smoother, but after 500km, I checked the plugs and the white isolators were so white like new. So I replaced them back with Champions, being afriad of preignition.

Temperature range is set by individual manufacture standards means every one calling own numbers.
If NGK tests those Champions plugs you getting NGK standard with number 8.

So I have 16 340i and you have convinced me to replace with the champions! No at 32k and at 29k I flashed a BM3 stage 1 tune with no mods. I heard from a lot of people that you don’t have to change plugs with a simple stage 1 tune? But I’ve also heard some say you should immediately change plugs with even a stage 1 tune? So that’s my first questions

Second question is when plugs are changed should you also change ignition coils as well? My next oil Change is at 35k and I’m pretty much convinced at 35k I should change plugs ( if I wasn’t tuned I guess I would wait til around 50k )

Thx for your help

I replaced my 340i champion spark plugs with ngk and they caused a bunch of misfires. Replaced those with new champion spark plugs and all the misfires went away

Hey great vid. I have a 2017 540 that I’m looking to do a stage 2 tune on. Currently have 40k miles with original plugs. I planned on changing them when I tuned since I was close to the recommendation anyway. The tune company recommends going a step colder and changing every 20k miles. Is it worth going colder?

Hey I have a 2016 340 and I'm about do a stage 2 MHD tune. The car has ~52k miles on it so I want to make sure I'm covering all my bases before I put more power to it. I was hoping u could give me your opinion on what I plan on doing:

Coils + Plugs (Which coils do you recommend Bosch or Eldor?)
Oil change (No help needed here)
VRSF Catless DP
Diff flush (Should I do front and rear? Any info on the intervals?)
Transmission flush (Might wait till 60k? What do you think about this?)

Lastly, is there anything else I should consider?

Thanks,
Justin

That answered a lot of questions I didn’t even know I had, thank you. I’ve been having random RPM dips during idle. Could I have accidentally gapped a plug too narrow? Or would that be totally unrelated?

Hi Kern,

I'm seeing almost everyone put 94201 NGK in their BMW B58's, both TU and non TU. I have a B58TU motor, and according to this video, the plug for my motor is the 95248.

I contacted NGK and they did not provide any additional information for me. Could you potentially provide more insight on this?I don't want to put the incorrect plugs in and the only people who are putting 95248 plugs in their BMW's are the S58 guys based on me skimming through Bimmerpost.

Thanks in advance for your reply and insight.

I have a 2019 Bmw 440i with a MHD stage 2 OTS map dose that require spark plug gapping or OEM will work fine?
