Why is BH valued at over $800B while the value of assets under management are under $400B. I don't understand why it is way more valuable than the companies it actually makes money from given it doesn't make any money has a company on its own

Hero worship is never healthy. He has been successful, but prior success is no indication of future success. Most investment companies that research the companies they invest in are typically successful long-term. I think when people get a golden goose designation, people get disillusioned.
I personally think those who build successful businesses are more impressive than those who invest in successful businesses. It's the builders that make this country grow.
