I have been watching Republic Day Parades for many years now and have never once got bored. They are always a treat to watch. Even as an Indian, one is amazed by India's rich cultural diversity that unites us together. What is noteworthy is the Government's push to empower women in all walks of life by showcasing India's Nari Shakti. For a patriarchal society in India this constant push for Nari Shakti is beginning to produce remarkable results. Birth of a girl child in a house hold is now regarded as a blessing. Ab beti ka janam Lakshmi Devi ka aagman samjha jaane laga hai.

I am positively surprised with the theme of "Naari Shakti" being displayed and demonstrated in such a classy and subtle way. I believe that around 60%-80% of marching contingents/tableaus were all-women or led by women, and the motorcycle stunts one were pretty much only women. Even the traditional and supposedly male-dominated BSF had an only women contingent this time around. I love the fact that the organisers did not create such a hoolabaloo about this fact before or after the parade but very subtly showed to Macron, Indian citizens and the world the changing, forward looking, women empowering India. Whoever was the architect behind this has my respect.
