Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Tal Keinan (author) about his new book “God is in the Crowd” which dives into the ideas and issues facing modern day Judaism.

Understanding spirituality is difficult in today’s fast paced world. Does the world of theology still offer something to a more secular modern world? Are there lessons to learn from a more spiritual path that can help us make sense of issues like morality? Or is spirituality best left to the past according to some modern day atheists and skeptics? What does it even mean to be spiritual in an enlightened world? Hear from a wide variety of guests on the benefits, struggles, and problems with religion with this playlist:

It never ceases to amaze me how enlightening these interviews are Dave!! Thank you, thank you for all your sacrifices to continue doing this fantastic show. Also, I appreciate your guest's willingness to contribute to the large conversation about all these important principles we believe in. Oh and I want to add, just to drive home, yet again how diverse your viewership is, I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I support and love my Jewish brother and sisters in Israel and here in the U.S. And I respect the views discussed in this interview and I'm perfectly willing to dialogue with any secular person and I happily accept their assessment that I'm 'crazy' for my super-natural beliefs. Yes, we can still build a better world together despite our differences.

22:37 - Im an orthodox Jew and I have been describing Jeudaism as an operating system since forever. for example: sabbath starts at sun down on Friday night and ends at sundown on Sat night. But if there in that 25hr period there is an emergency and someone needs to be driven to the hospital a new "subroutine" triggers called "pickuach nefesh doche shabbat - saving a life overides shabbat". ie shabbat no longer exists until the emergency has passed and the situation has stabalized. once that happends the emergency SR closes and the master restarts and shabbat continues. This is amazing. Im glad I saw this. Kol Hakavod!

US Navy veteran and Jewish. I liked the military discussion part at about 50;00. Trust me, the Israeli Air Force has far more concern for civilian deaths that we did during the years I served 1980s to 1990s.

I so appreciate Dave. Would that every secularist/naturalist (atheist) had the curiosity and integrity to truly give people who believe in a transcendent realm an opportunity to share their worldview.

Dave- have you heard of Rabbi Joseph dweck? He is the chief Rabbi of the sefardi community in England. He is an orthodox Jew speaking openly about a positive approach to homosexuality within Judaism. Definitely worth an interview!

Great interview with great question. Gripping interviewer. An Iraqi Christian here in Australia and shame about The Farhood in Baghdad in the 40s which is replicated with Christians 2014.

One comment I wholeheartedly agree with and have for decades...our biggest issue is the lack of a cohesive mature sense of community. We should be focused from the bottom up, not the top down and it starts locally in your community.

I consistently love the Jewish ethical world view. It’s deep, rich and raucous. We’re so much better off for it.

This guy is distorting Judaism and the growth of Jewish learning. Even in the dark ages, Jewish Sages wrote amazing books that were shared with other Jewish communities across the world

Wow, a Jew utterly disconnected from his own prophets. What would Isaiah say of this Jew?

I've just started listening to this interview but noted having the same reaction as Tal when reading about different groups of diaspora Jews. Just look at the Ethiopian Jews--who would have thought a group like that would hold onto their religion for 2, 000 years in the face of all the turmoil and changes they've seen (e.g., having to keep the rules of being Kosher during times of famine).
