Types of Injectable Fillers

“Although injectable fillers are a common facial cosmetic procedure around the world, they are not new. The ‘search for youth’ has come a long way over the past century, with many different types of dermal filler now available.
Collagen fillers have been around for 35 years. When injected into soft tissue, it last approximately 3 months. They are no longer popular and have been replaced with hyaluronic acid-based fillers.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are a naturally-occurring carbohydrate in our skin and cartilage. When it’s combined with water, it swells and forms a gel-like substance. They last between 6 and 12 months.

Calcium hydroxyapatite is a mineral we have in our bones and teeth. When developed as part of a filler, its particles are suspended in a water-based gel solution in order to prepare it for injection. Results can last up to 12 months.

Commonly known fillers are juvederm, restylane, teosyal products, redensity II, volbella, voluma and radiesse.
