A Complete Guide to Data Driven Charts In PowerPoint

Показать описание
Today I will show you how you can create data driven charts in Microsoft PowerPoint with the DataPoint add-on. These charts are linked to data and are updated automatically when you just open the presentation. Or you can run the slide show on a computer screen and see real-time updates while you are presenting.
Now I will use the DataPoint add-on for PowerPoint. I click the List button of the Connections. I navigate to Excel here and click the Add Connection button. Now I browse and select my Excel data file. And I name my connection.
Now I click Add Query and instruct DataPoint to read the information of Sheet1. The range I need for this is A1:F5 and I will use a data refresh rate of 1 second. So every second, DataPoint will scan the Excel file for new data. OK to close. I set an optional name on this query and I see the data already here in this preview area.
Now I select the chart and click the Chart button at the DataPoint menu. There is only one usable connection in this presentation, so I just click OK and accept the default settings like so.
And now all current data of my Excel file is copied into the PowerPoint. You see the years have changed, the products were updated and of course the data.
Now let me run this in slide show mode. This goes on the left area of my screen. And then this Excel data file on the right.
You can now update the information in the Excel document and everything is updated in real-time in your PowerPoint presentation. This now runs locally, but you can run this data driven chart on a dedicated machine and monitor and update the excel file from another computer.
