I think they should've gone like this:
The batman who laughs becomes the batman who laughs as he did. Then, he would do all the terrible things he does to his own universe, (he doesn't get past that, meaning no Manhattan powers and no ridiculous multiverse take over bs). He struggles to take control with the justice league and other characters trying to stop his efforts, but they ultimately fail. And this all happens in just one night. When the night is over, the world is in the batman who laughs' hands, so much damage has been done, so many innocent lives have been killed, and at the end of the night, the toxin wears off. The toxin was only capable of lasting one night all along, not even the joker could've predicted how much chaos and destruction his toxin could do in a single night. We go back to the batman who retains all his memories from the terrible things he has done as the batman who laughs. He takes off his mask, looks down at his bloody hands and cries with horror and fear for what he has done. After a loud cry, there's a moment of silence, and a big smile forms on his face, then he chuckles. What was funny about that to the point where the batman would chuckle? Well, maybe the batman was insane all along; he just needed a little push... the comic book would end there. Open for interpretation by the readers.

I don't know who would read this but if you did let me know what you think. I would've liked to have gotten in detail and added more but this is just a thread on youtube.

I think it would have been way better if the Joker finally killed the Batman, but feeling empty, he took on the mantle of the Batman out of boredom and started killing criminals in his own twisted way.
