Australia says China coal ban would breach WTO rules

Australia has said that a coal import ban by China would be a clear breach of WTO (World Trade Organization) rules. Prime Minister Scott Morrison wants Beijing to confirm media reports that it has formalised the ban. Coal is one of Australia's most valuable exports, worth up to $3 billion a year. Arrivals have been informally stopped from entering China since October, leaving dozens of bulk carriers stranded off China's coast. Worsening relations with Beijing have resulted in restrictions on more than a dozen Australian exports, including barley, beef and wine.

Australians need to understand that having a Free Trade Agreement does not mean that China must buy from you. Australians just can’t throw tantrums and start calling China all sorts of degrading names when China stops buying from them. This behavior by Australians is absolutely unreasonable and only a bully will behave in such a manner.
