The UNC Coastal Studies Institute, in partnership with NOAA's Monitor Marine Sanctuary, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and Project Baseline, have been surveying WWII shipwrecks as part of the 2016 Battle of the Atlantic Expedition.

On August 24, the 2016 Battle of the Atlantic research team deployed two Triton minisubs from the Baseline Explorer to document the never before seen U-576 and Bluefields, two ships sank during the Battle of the KS 520 convoy during WWII. The two shipwrecks rest only 600 feet apart inover 700 feet of water off Cape Hatteras, NC.

Obviously needs more study - the girl that started the dive grew a beard by the time they headed back up.

Amazing work folks! Wish I could ride along.
