Applying this to actually getting work done has helped alot

What helps me is instead of saying "I should do the thing" I say "I deserve the thing." Example: you're learning to cook, but you're not really in the mood to cook, you can say "my body deserves a healthy delicious meal today." Or if you're trying a new hobby "I deserve to have a fun hobby that brings me joy." It changes your perspective on lots of things.

Love this guy. Makes complete logical sense. Funny enough usually says things in ways that I've thought about already. Really nice hearing it from someone else. Helps solidify these ideas in my head

Watched this video and ended up applying for a job I was unsure about. Got ghosted, which sucks, but I'm proud of myself for applying and feel like I gained some confidence from the process anyway.

I had to learn this too and tbh, it's hard to keep doing this every time, over and over again. I made a poor decision earlier this week, that was really the result of not thinking about what I was doing. I got called on it and I immediately started panicking, reeling, felt like giving up and just running away from my life.
It's making me rethink whether or not I actually want to be in the job position I'm currently focussed on obtaining. And I hate this. I know EXACTLY why my brain is doing this, where this anxiety is coming from. And I feel so powerless against it. I keep pushing through to make my life better than it has ever been and making dreams come true. But the tiniest things make me wanna forfeit and run.

what’s been helping me lately is every time i have to make a choice to do the thing i ask myself whether i want to pursue long term goals or momentary comfort and the goal’s importance to me outweighs whatever momentary lapse in judgment i may have

Just opened YouTube to find some sweet motivation/help me find solution to my struggles and this short popped up. Thank you, Dr.K!❤

What is more important - meeting new people or feeling safe.
I think allowing for and acknowledging a need for safety is useful rather than framing it in a sort of blaming/shaming/loosing way.

One thing that's helping me is framing everything I do as a choice. Even if I sometimes make the 'wrong' decision, I can increase my sense of agency and control over my life, which leads me to making the 'right' decision more often.

Wow this hits hard.

I’ve been waiting for someone to tell me “im not good enough” in a way that makes sense to me, thanks.

1. What about this is important to me?
What is more important to me right now?
Is it more important to actually go out and try to make friends because this is what i care about?
Or is it more important to me to give in to the social anxiety and not put myself through the discomfort?
2. Which choice will lead to pride and which will lead to regret?

This is a really great point. You shouldn't have to go to every social event to battle your worries. You can pick your battles and take a rest.

I needed to hear this. I owe you my life.

When you cannot see what might bring you pride or regret, and you contemplate about your values once again. Things missed on the way to success, lost memories, lost people, lost years, and in the end you have what looks good on the outside.

I need to do this for work, I’m 21 and I’ve struggled to hold a for more than 2 months because I get so fearful of being unhappy or miserable. But im taking more action to actually go in a career path direction by getting my cna and I’m worried I’ll end up quitting school too but I’ve made so much progress in this past year I’m hopeful I can pull it off

Wow, I've never heard anyone give this kind of clarity on what to do to make consistent progress before. I wish I had that kind of advice when I was struggling years ago

I didn't realise how important this was till I realise on the days I'm not working and I feel low that I've done nothing, I always find myself happier when I made an effort on some chores or made time for myself.

This is basically how I motivate myself to go to the gym on days where I have little or no motivation to go. It really does work even if I never thought of it like this before

The difficulty I'm having lately is that my answer to the first question often ends up being giving in, largely because I'm so close to suicide and think that it's not going to matter soon so there's no point putting effort into life when I don't expect it'll last very long anyway. I keep telling myself I'm going to try harder, then when it actually comes up I just can't muster the will to do so
