DJI Phantom Sony & GoPro Cinematic Aerial footage

GoPro Hero 3 Black and Sony AS-15 Action cameras mounted to DJI Phantom. Testing to see how they could be used in actual cinematic use. Assembled and post processed in Apple FCPX.

Hero 3 has a damaged lens from a previous crash (notice softening in center). Image stabilization was turned of on the Sony.

Honestly, they both have their fir for lots of things that I do with them. I'll be posting a new video in a few with the sony in the handheld case. The audio on the Sony is much better as a handy cam.

If we are talking strictly just for the quadcopter, the GoPro offers much more.

Sorry spongebobnopantsFJ the vid was not long enough, I wasn't looking a the quality of the cameras just the view and it was great, could you make them longer in the future? I love the aerial shots of suburban pilots whether in the US, GB or Australia, all are so different. Thanks, Mark.

Just the built in stabilization with FCPX. My flexible gimbal and and slowing it down helps.

I am new to the DJI phantom and many other helicopters or planes, I have spent thousands of dollars, and hundred of hours building planes and crashing them; all of that so I could feel the freedom of flight yet I could never ever achieved that unit now. I must say that the DJI Phantom is the easiest thing to fly for any pilot, it took me less than 20 minutes to takes off.

I have the sony action cam and I only need to get myself the DJI Phantom now...LOL...have been doing a bit of research before I purchase

if you have software that lets you put the comparisons side by side into one shot it would make a dramatic difference.

i wouldnt exactly say jello free video, but it was pretty much there. you got graupners on the phantom? if not i would recommend them as they reduce vibration a lot.

It is actually a pretty durable Quad and you really can't build a RTF for any cheaper. I would sign up on the FB page and ask around for a used one. Some people like this Quadcopter stuff so much they are already wanted to go better.

Looks to me that the Gopro footage had finger stains on the lens...

Get yourself a flight simulator, spend some hours on it, but believe it or not my first heli was a coaxial and within an hour or 2 i was able to fly around without crashing, and this was without any training just bought it a fly.
