Was the first jet engine really invented around 1910 by Romanian engineer Henri Coanda? Probably not.

Lets build it nowadays and see if it actually flew

This is not a jet engine. Jet engines combust fuel between two fans, not in another piston engine.

Every airplane dispelled air backwards to create trust even props. So you’re saying every engine that propels air backwards is a jet engine

Don't regular propeller aircraft dispel air backwards, to create thrust?

Every aircraft dispels air backwards to create thrust 😂

Still a 4-stroke piston powered aircraft. Combustion cycles will determine the type of engine it is. Jet engines power themselves through a sustained cycle of intake compression combustion and exhaust all at the same time.

Jets and nacels are a completely separate concept.

So every plane is jet powered because they push air back to make thurst?

A jet engine uses air taken in through the inlet that is then pressurized, and combines it with combustion produced inside the engine itself to expel hot gases at a faster rate and with more combined volume than that kf the air thats taken in. This ducted fan engine just takes air in through the inlet, but it doesn't use combustion with that air from the intake to produce thrust. All the combustion happens in the piston engine powering the ducted fan.

Dawg a regular prop pushes air to move

Yes but that would make all propellers jet aircraft as they dispel air backwards

IIRC he did do demonstrations. There were witnesses present, people from the press aswell.

Think I remember it being said that it only flew a few meters off the ground in a straight line, so nothing fancy even by the standards of the time.

We're taught about him at school here in Romania as he was one of the country's main aeronautic pioneers and among the great scientists of the era. So big national celebrity even today. Our largest and fanciest airport is named after the guy

By that logic if you jump and fart your a jet engine

There's no reason why it wouldn't fly, but that is not a jet engine by definition. It's a ducted fan. There's a big difference. Like a lot of RC planes, they don't use jet engines. They use electric ducted fans in place of them because that's just simpler, cheaper. and less likely to fucking catch on fire

I'm pretty sure jet engines don't have piston engines inside them

This isn't a jet engine, it has no combuster. This is exactly ONE HALF of a jet engine, being used in the stead of a propeller.

It just pushes air; it doesn’t burn fuel to generate high-speed exhaust gases like a jet engine.

A funcționat si daca ai fi citit ai fi observat ca spune ca in timpul zborului aparatul fiind facut din lemn a inceput sa se încălzească foarte tare pana aproape sa ia foc

Does it mix fuel with pressurized air? If not I’d say it’s a propeller with extra steps
