They didn't really explain how more small particles coming out of certain mask actually can increase the spread. Instead of large droplets falling to the ground with no mask they are spread out in smaller airborne particles which can increase the spread of the virus.

How does a mask with layers of fabric differ from a bandanna, which is 2 layers of cloth and extends down to the shirt collar? A bandanna is easily washed and will also cover your mouth snugly when you cover your mouth while sneezing.
