One thing that stands out for me is that these innovations that take the world by storm don't really come from where people would expect them to (microsoft, amazon etc). A very large amount of them comes from the average layman who has a passion, calling, curiosity, creativity, work ethics and integrity.

Crazy seeing DHH creating tables via a GUI. Migrations were almost six months away and didn't see the light of day until Rails 1.1 in March 2006

rails has been a blessing and a curse for ruby, it is what put ruby in the map in the west but it is also what drives the community like an evil dictator of a third world country, python, js, every other language has grown out of their "main framework" and expanded to other areas, ruby remains trapped in rails.

it might be "seriously out of date" but it's easy helpful information for newcomers and other than him jumping screens and moving from one file to the next, you can pick up the gerna; idea on how to make a basic app and mold from there.. GOOD JOB TENTHCONCEPTS!!!
