Today we'll be looking at a model 966 Bolens Articulator, commonly referred to as a Stiga - Park 16 HST (16hp HydroStaticTransmission).

Stiga was founded in Sweden in 1934, and is known for manufacturing high quality riding lawn mowers.

The model 966 has a hydrostatic transmission, unlike previous models that featured a 5 speed transmission. The 966 model was built between 1991 and 1993.

It was imported into Canada from Sweden, by a company called Garden Way, and sold under the Bolens brand.

In 2001, MTD acquired Garden Way, which included the Troy-Bilt and Bolens brands. However, MTD does not sell parts for this model.

If you're located in Canada, and are searching for Stiga/Bolens Articulator parts, they can be purchased through ESF Direct which is located in Quebec.

First time i have seen one of these babies and i like the concept. Easy to work on the engine but takes up so much room in the shed. Now get back to work and finish that Cub Cadet snowblower we have been sitting on for 6 years eh?

These are common here in Sweden. I have an older model with manual 5 speed. Once the articulator broke in half while mowing, quite an experience!

I'm so glad you made a video on this I've owned one for 25 years and it never has let me down. It's identical to the bolens but it's under it's true name stiga park pro. And by the way that 16 HP Vanguard is the factory installed engine I have two of them and they both came with those engines. Parts were always difficult to find aftermarket so I'm glad that you mentioned the one in Quebec which I'll be checking out. Thanks again for all your videos you do a great job.

A version of this is one of the mowers my dad had when I was a kid (Ga USA). It was my favorite as it was so easy to mow with it and get into areas like under fences. Eventually I guess it became too difficult to maintain, but it remains the mower I remember best.

Good one Jake. I service a fair few of these each year. Weak point is the articulated bushing (some has bearings). Thanks for showing this👍👍

Very similar to my Husqvarna R322T. Mine is 4WD but also has cable articulated steering, Briggs V-twin (20HP), quick change mower deck (44") and a 40" single stage snowblower.

A very nice machine you don't see every day especially a machine that was manufactured in Sweden I like the 16hp briggs & stratton vanguard engine.

Thats a really neat mower Jake, I bet Ander's over in Sweden has worked on those before. I actually saw someone
local to me selling a Husqvarna articulated mower on marketplace the other day, I thought about it for a few minutes. 💲😂💲
Glad to see you injected a bit of humor there with ole Austin, made me laugh buddy. 👍
Thanks

I detect some serious machine envy. 😂
It would have been really nice to see the original engine on it. Really neat concept.

As soon as I saw it I thought that machine looks very familiar but not white or branded Bolen.
Used to be common here in England with a front mulching decks but the decks rotted out and most of them were then scraped.
