The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - Forrest Fight (HD)

In the Shuddering Woods, Caspian, Nikabrik and Trufflehunter set out to find other Narnians. Trufflehunter would much prefer that Caspian wait for the old Kings and Queens, but Caspian is in a hurry. Then Trufflehunter smells out a Telmarine search party, and the three must run for their lives. But before the Telmarines can kill them, they are killed themselves by a creature too small to see that obviously strikes from below, with deadly efficiency. Then this creature leaps out of the ferns that cover the ground in the forest, bowls Caspian over, draws a tiny sword, and shouts, "Choose your last words carefully, Telmarine!" This creature is Reepicheep (Eddie Izzard), who is actually a mouse! Reepicheep is inclined to kill Caspian out-of-hand, but Trufflehunter tells him to put away his weapon, because Caspian is the one who blew the horn--a revelation that gives Reepicheep pause. That is when a party of centaurs arrive, saying that the horn is why they have gathered.

They did not disappoint.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how skilled those crossbowmen are? They're reloading crossbows while running, and while they probably are light crossbows rather than full on military crossbows that requires a windlass or belt-and-claw to reload, they still have to pull it back with nothing more but muscle, get it to lock properly, THEN actually reload the darn thing. All while running through the woods and trying to shoot. And getting a damn good rate of fire to boot!
(Well, rate of loosing since there's no fire, but you get the point :P )

I just found out Trufflehunter was played by Ken Stott, who also played Balin the dwarf in the Hobbit movies! He's got a wonderful voice.

I grew up with this movie and I had a massive crush on Caspian but now when I hear Reepicheep telling Caspian to “pick it up” gesturing to his sword, I just remember Death telling Puss in Boots to pick up his sword and so I chuckle bc it’s kinda that scene reminded me of this scene, the roles are just reversed and the “tone” is very different. Small critter with fencing sword feathered hat vs tall and handsome mysterious character with clunky metal weapon and one looses his sword and opts out of picking it up. Ngl this scene could be just as intense as Death challenging Puss given the right filter and sound design lol (just think what Caspian’s character was feeling in that moment). Its cool to see 2000’s media I grew up with being referenced and homaged to by media in the early 2020s lol

The man who plays the dwarf, Warwick Davies, played Ripacheep in the original Narnia series.
On an unrelated note, he also played the ewok who meets Leya.
