I am currently having a problem with the table of contents in my training materials, which I am creating in Confluence in both German and English. Although I add the table of contents macros to both versions after defining the headings, the table of contents is not displaying.

I also tried editing a page with the Legacy Editor as a potential workaround, but that also didn't yield any results.

Do you have any tips or tricks on how I can resolve this issue?

P.S. In the past, I've created pages using the "old" Confluence, and it worked perfectly.

Turns out my issue was a bug in Confluence, documented over a year ago, still outstanding.
