Often, we have an Excel sheet that we need to be confidential. A good example would be a payroll file, or maybe just a file of your personal finances. In these cases, it is great to create a password protected Excel file.

In our tutorial, we will walk through how to save an Excel workbook with a password. Then, we re-open the file to test our password protected Excel file.

In finance (or any career when you deal with potentially confidential information), it is a good idea to get into the practice of password protecting sheets especially when you are planning to email them to somebody. Excel sheets are easy to forward to people and accidents can happen if you send the sheet to the wrong person.

One important thing to remember is to always use a memorable password, or write it down somewhere you can find it. If is not fun when you forget your password!
