Rockstar 4 vs 5. Side by Side Comparison

Part two in our first look at the new Jackson Kayak Rockstar 5 first look. This week a side by side with the Rockstar 4.0. Similarities and differences and what that should mean to how they paddle. Roughly at least.

Thanks Seth for the great video. Specs on the 5 small are also similar to my 2010 Star, as far as width, volume and length.the V checks off everything i like in a boat! I don't need to paddle it and decide if i like it... I know I will. I bought the Small V in cotton candy and cant wait to get it.

Great, a modification to a kayak that 99.9% of people already don't use to it's full potential.

But great for the 7 professionals who may, possibly, in certain circumstances be able to tell a slight difference.

Then three years from now they will release a new version, likely with a name they think is super cool like "trix 6", that is....you guessed it, an INCH SHORTER and also has grooves added to the rear for stability/rigidity (or whatever nonsense claim).

I'm really curious to see the differences in the large.

The 4 in large was ridiculously unshreddably large. Hell it was so big I'm 235 and I could barely initiate the bow flatwater! The 4.0 in size MEDIUM (61.4g) is great though, as was the 2016 in large. The 5 in size large is... almost the exact same volume as the 4.0? The medium however sees a notable decrease in volume? Why the significant difference in volume only in the medium and not the large?

For reference:

2016 Rockstar - Medium 55 gallons
2016 Rockstar - Large 63 gallons

4.0.- Medium - 61.4 gallons (nearly the same as previous gen large, hence I liked it!)
4.0 - Large - 69.4 gallons

5.0 - Medium - 59 gallons. (4% reduction)
5.0 - Large - 69 Gallons (.05% reduction)
