why didn't the 2 go to the denominator when you crossed out the y??? because you're not crossing out the entire 2y only the y

The 6 has the -3 subtracted from it. That is why it turns into a 3.

What happend to the 6? Why did you do 2x-3 and then do 2x+3? I'm confused there.

On the left side of the equation there is a +6 +2x - 3, I took that 6 - 3 and got +3 because they were like terms on the left side of the equation. My work is correct.

I think the teaching is great! Commenters should be a little more polite in how they phrase questions. Confusion is generally a lack of understanding, not teacher error.

but i thought since there are 2 Y's, the LCD must equal 2y squared?
