EastEnders - Cindy Beale's 'Death' - Ian Finds Out Cindy Has 'Died' (5th November 1998)

On 5th November 1998, Ian was told by Pat that Cindy had died while giving birth to her baby. Michelle Collins was due to return later on in the year to film more court scenes but was subsequently axed before doing so and was supposed killed off-screen in November.

Well as unfortunate as her supposed axing in 1998 proved to be over the decades, her 2023 comeback has proved to be a "life-saving decision". Therefore if Cindy were to ever exit the show or get killed-off, hopefully not for a very long time of course, then it'd better end up being a lot better than the way she got axed off-screen.

The writers led by Mal Young were so stupid and short-sighted, killing off Cindy and Tiffany at the time. The dry patches this show has experienced in the subsequent years could have been prevented had these two popular characters been retained for a possible return. Luckily they realised this by making Cindy alive again but there is no way for Tiffany to be brought back as we saw her die on screen.
