This is like threading but with a metal contraption. In the salon I go to usually it's just a type of thin thread. IT HURTS LIKE HELL

Oh and it HURTS. It hurts more than tweezers or waxing, imo. In my country, some people still do the rubber band trick. Tweezers pull hair one or two at a time. The rubber band trick rolls up multiple hairs caught in between, kinda like waxing but more agonizing because it works slower and does not always pull all the hairs in one pass. It takes skill and mastery to do it with less pain.

But anyway, if you pluck your eyebrows or any facial hair with it, it will be even more painful.

My great grandmother used to burn her arm hair off with matches 😅

we still have these in 2024 tho...

edit: to clarify, threading (and other similar hair removal practices) has been a thing for a _long_ time.

it absolutely does leave bumps, but they should go down after a day. it’s just pulling each hair out

I was raised by my great grandmother. I remember when I first asked her for a razor once I was old enough to shave, and she brought be home an epilator. I had never heard of one before. Tried to shave my legs. Screamed. Told her it wasripping out my hair. She's just like, "yeah. Duh."

Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.

There is a reason we are not commonly doing this today, ladies.

Actually, women during the roaring 20s did use razors but they were safety razors

I actually notice in a bunch of period animes they wrap a string and pull. It's really smart
