This is a very good tutorial! I'll definitely try it myself one of those days after buying a new battery, I've been wanting to replace my Emerald one for a while but I don't trust myself with soldering 😂

you have fixe the clock but not the passage of time. in order to let your berries regrow and other things that require the passage of time, you need to advance the rtc battery clock to a date past what the date when the original battery died to do that there are multiple ways to do that most of which require an r4 flash cartage and a ds that can play game boy advanced games or a ever drive flash cartage for the game boy advance and some third party software.

I tried this years ago with generation two and over time the pins do loosen. Unfortunately for generation one - two once your battery dies, that is it for your save file.

You're better off soldering it. It can get loose when you use electrical tape. Also you gotta clear all your save data when you change the battery so you can actually use clock based events

If you don't adjust the date with third party software, or start a new game, this doesn't fix anything. Just gets rid of the error message. Also if you don't solder it, the battery will eventually come loose and cause problems. If you're getting into any kind of electronics repair at any level, you can grab up a basic soldering iron very cheap and it's worth doing. It's a far better way to do this.

I have a USA copy of Pokémon Emerald, but it doesn't have a battery :(

Yeah I tried soldering it and it snapped off and the battery won’t connect anymore

Or you could get a solder or have someone solder it for you to have it fixed correctly and not have the game lose value if it's an authentic cartridge.

This is useful for replacing the battery, but what about the RTC inside the battery?

Just wondering, if the battery becomes loose in any way will it ruin my save file?

Clean, I'll try it. Just unfortunate that the tape sort of ruins the look of the transparent cartridge ahah
