This is a cool little entry-level Metro that won't break the bank and provide much-needed fun! Has a current, clear, transferable California title.

This Southern California 1959 Nash Metropolitan for sale is a clean high desert car that just came out of the repair shop after 17 years in storage and is ready for a new life.

The exterior is quite original appearing looks to me to have been repainted probably just once and in its original colors. The body and undercarriage are rust-free except for those pesky, typical spots at the lower door corners. The undercarriage is very straight and rust-free for a very easy and relatively inexpensive refresh for its next owner. All of the trim, chrome and stainless are present.

The 1500cc inline 4 cylinder motor starts up and runs well. The choke works fine and once warmed up it gets along pretty good. $2600 was just spent getting it ready to use after being in storage since 2003 including new radiator and heater, valve cover gasket, replaced cylinder head, braking, charging, and cooling systems all addressed. It has date coded 2015 tires on the rear with close to 100% tread in good condition. The front tires have 90% of the tread but are quite aged and should be replaced. Overall it drives well.

The interior is complete. It appears that it was re-carpeted not too many miles ago and the seat was likely reupholstered at that time. The rear seat pad and paneling along with the headliner are original. It has the original steering wheel and all of the original in-dash amenities are still there including a working radio, working speedometer, working fuel and amperage gauges, wipers, head, tail, brake, license plate lamps along with the blinkers and horn.

I have four of these here in England UK, this has an external opening boot (trunk to you guys in USA) and quarter light opening side vent windows, so therefore a series 1V car which was released in 1959, the colour is Berkshire Green and Frost white, looks a nice straight original car

I recall a "lawn mower/small engine" mechanic that drove a Metro this exact color. Small town Minnesota in the early '60's. Remarkable thing was this guy was under 6' tall but had to weight close to 300 pounds! He literally filled that car.

Not Nash post-1956, simply Metropolitan sold by Rambler dealers.

Im thinking of trying to get one of these from a local Antique shop that needs some restoration. What is the magnet test for? Should I bring a magnet with me to check it out?
