In the collector world, super rare cars with gobs of factory-installed power usually command attention and serious money. If you're in the market for rare Ford Motor Company sheet metal that won't drain your kid's college fund, look no further than this 1 of 1 1969 Ford Torino Cobra.

Fresh out of a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration, this true R-code Cobra is about as close to sleeper as anything with a Cobra badge could ever get. One of just 17 Cobras to leave the Los Angeles assembly plant wearing Meadowlark Yellow, this Formal Roof Ford features immaculate paintwork sprayed over a laser straight original body. Fit and finish is exceptional with crisp lines and even gaps all around.

With its vinyl top and soft yellow paint, the only warning other motorists received came in the form of a functional hood scoop and a few Cobra badges. The rest of the car is pure Torino. The stainless is immaculate and the glass looks great surrounded by the black vinyl top.

Under the hood, the original Super Cobra Jet 428 remains in place wearing a correct casting number and 9K108609 partial VIN. Conservatively rated at 335hp, the engine utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy duty connecting rods, a nodular iron crankshaft and larger valves and ports to produce enough power to hold its own on the street. Restored to factory specs, the bay looks showroom. The engine fires immediately and sounds great thanks to a set of Magnaflow mufflers.

The potent 428 is backed by a Toploader four-speed manual transmission and a 9-inch Traction-Lok differential that's been updated with 3.25 gears. The drivetrain is supported by a stock suspension featuring double A-arms up front and a leafs with staggered shocks out back. Turns are helped by a freshly rebuilt power steering system that utilizes a GM style power steering pump while braking is power assisted with disc brakes up front and drums at the rear. The sleeper look is aided by Argent style steel wheels wrapped in Firestone Wide Oval tires.

Documentation includes an Elite Marti Report which breaks down the car to a 1 of 1 based on selected options. Also included is an original owner's manual that explains each of the car's functions as interpreted by Ford's marketing department.

Actually technically they weren't a Torino or just a Ford Cobra. Awesome car man. Hardly ever see the formal roof versions, only the fastbacks

Looks like it never had the Drag Pack option because there is no oil cooler and the rear gear ratio is wrong .My guess is that someone replaced the engine at some point with a SCJ 428 so I doubt the car is #'s matching .

What a cool Ford. I had a 69 Mustang CJ 4 speed in 1970-71 I was 18. A perfect age to have 360 HP.

I see the 68 steering wheel but that is easily rectified.

It's not a GT, and as such, not a Torino. Nor is it a Fairlane, because it says Cobra, not Fairlane anywhere. Cobra is better than any GT. The 69' 428 Cobra Jet was faster than the 70 429 SCJ. Bare in mind that the 429 SCJ has almost nothing in common with the BOSS 429. The horse power ratings were blatantly falsified concerning the 428 Cobra Jet they were using 390 c.i. numbers of 335 h.p. witch is laughable.

A Cobra is a Cobra not a Fairlane or Torino it only came with one engine . Where are the 3.91 or 4.30 locker nodular carriers that came with that car . 3.25 is a downgrade
