I hope Ray gets to live as long as he wants. We need to push life extension technology.

Lex, when are you going to have AI on the show for an interview?

At least this clip didn't involve the 'We'll upload our consciousness fallacy, ' though I'm sure it's either in the full video or Ray's body of work.

If Ray looks like this at 70 something, maybe his views will change during the next decade. That's putting it politely.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is nervous about oblivion

I really enjoy all your conversations with people but this one is home to my soul! And the fact of love being what I want everybody to know and be. To be loved is the best feeling, to love with no boundaries or expectations is the highest quality of life any being will ever make of them self .

The most compelling argument I can think of against radical life extension. The biggest challenge I can think of is proportional time perspective. How as we age.. time seems to move faster to us which makes it increasingly difficult to interact with younger people. Imagine the difference in your experience of time between when you are 15 and when you are 45... now multiply that by 20. How do you interact with the world properly and offset that.

I don't understand what new understanding or technology which will create a change in the body that will significantly alter lifespan. Stem cells and brain cells on average live for about 80 years. Some people have gene variants (SNPs) favoring old age and some might reach 110 or even 120, most of them little women. What I can see, is that all the work is being done on healthspan, not lifespan. But I suppose he might have answered his own question. It is optimism. When he was asked if God exists he said: "Not yet." However he seems to always look into the future. I suppose he has a point. Depressing historians sells so few books.

He already looks younger than the last interview I watched with him

That I would like to live as long as possible. It's not so much that i'm afraid of death but that I love life a lot.

Ray is wrong about death... the premise being is that evil leaders will be the first to gain the ability to live forever and turmoil will follow forever.

I don't understand the allure of living forever. You're here for a time, you do your thing, you die. I guess if you didn't believe in an afterlife, then I could see it. But even then, being old forever doesn't sound like fun.

His reading technology was a help to me in college. But before we extend life forever we should probably cure cancer first. The longer we live the more crazy cancers are going to spring up.
