EACOP is one of the most climate-changing projects underway. EACOP is the "East African Crude Oil Pipeline": a mega oil project mainly carried by Total Energies (a French company) in Uganda and Tanzania. If it is built, it will be the longest heated oil pipeline in the world: 1443 km long and it will contribute to emit 34 million tons of CO2 per year, which is 6 times the emissions of Uganda.

At a time when IPCC scientists and the International Energy Agency are calling for an immediate halt to all new fossil fuel projects, the EACOP project is not only an aberration that brings the world closer to a climate catastrophe, but also a social bomb that is being denounced around the world. The #StopEACOP movement has already united nearly 265 NGOs opposed to the project.

This project will affect the whole world and raises an essential question: that of climate justice. While many voices are being raised to stop the project, repression against opponents is increasing in both Uganda and Tanzania, both of which are authoritarian regimes.

The fossil fuel multinationals are not unstoppable, we have already succeeded in blocking many financings to the project, but to succeed in our final objective to stop the project the StopEacop campaign needs you! Whether you are in France or in another country, your action can make a difference!
