How can we apply blockchain in environmental science?
Kai-Ti Wu answers this question in this video.

She is the founder of CitizenSci a system which rewards and motivates regular citizens to take part in environmental projects.
The term "citizen science" defines the act of regular citizens fulfilling simple science work. For example, in a science project which studies bird species, a citizen can go out to a specific place and take and submit pictures of different bird species which are studied in the project.

CitizenSci rewards citizens with cryptocurrencies for their research. It utilizes the blockchain technology by tracing the submitted research materials and automatically rewards the citizens accordingly. At the same time it incorporates a badge system, where citizens receive a badge NFT for their submitted data and can track the development of the research project in the future.

Kai Ti shares how she came up with the idea during a hackathon and explains about her participation in the ETHBerlin hackathon.
