Full Overhaul for the MN-82 Landcruiser!

This is a pretty model and it's not expensive. So, what's the catch?

Well, it's not a great crawler, despite live axles, locked diffs, servo on axle and low gearing. But as a trail rig, there's potential.

Can we make it better? I reckon we may just be able to! Let me show you what I've done with mine...

For those that are worried by his negative feedback, keep in mind he is coming from a hobbyist perspective. I'm sure it doesn't compare to nice RC cars. But as someone who just bought it as a 1st rc car since I was 12 and just to mess about, this thing is awesome.
It does what I need it too, it's fun, looks fantastic and so cheap that you won't feel bad damaging it. If you're just casually into RCs, or want to gift it to to someone who's not already into that hobby, I highly recommend it. He's right about it being over sprung and the tyres not providing enough grip though.

I am an air frame mechanic by trade. I worked for Boeing fixing things that knuckleheads destroyed for 35 years. I am now retired. You remind me of the "old school" engineers that raised me in the industry to critically think through problems and learn to fab what is needed once the "physics" of a problem are sorted out. Great video as usual and thank you for the work you do 🙂

Hi Craig, just wanted to say a big thanks for this video. I bought my 8 year a LC 79 for his birthday, then figured I would get one for myself to hang out together to drive. Now my 12 year old son wants one. Me being me It's already been modified. I want to get the suspension articulated nice so it has some extra abilities. Appreciate your work, if only I had a 3D printer.
Best regards. Max from Sydney, Australia.

This is a great truck for anyone just dipping their toes into the hobby. The youngsters love putting stuff in the back and hauling it around.

Thank you for this. Bought my 1st ever RC car and did all of these mods. She is absolute fun. Yes, the guys with the Traxxas, Axial and others are much better, but our smiles are the same size and that's what matters in a hobby. Love the little MN.

I've got a few WPL models that are on par with MN, I believe and they are what they are. They look good bouncing down the trail and provide smiles for the boys and I. They can't compete with Axial, Traxxas, FMS, etc as far a performance, but they make decent rolling models. I like what you did with this truck. It looks fantastic and it does pretty decent on the trail. Fun little video. Thank you!

This video got me so excited that i decided to buy a MN-82 tomorrow, and whilst i wait for tomorrow I'm already printing the canopy, wider arches and your wheel hex adaptors. You're just awesome for sharing the STL files to print !! A definite like and subscribe from me!

Nice work on the mods! I have a MN-82, MN-99 and a MN-128 and that little MN-82 is the best bang for the buck. I have a quick review of all three on my channel soon.

Looks very nice. And my favorite part of the hobby is fiddling with stuff and trying to make it better with minimal expense. Great video enjoyed it.

Thanks for doing videos like this. I recently got a MN82 and i planto turn it into a wifi controlled PFV rover. so it's a big proect but seeing how simple it was made me think it was a good base for building on.

Love mine and have modified the leaf springs with great results. Basically moving the leaf springs to go over the axel rather than under. Gives more clearence and much better feel.

Ordered mine yesterday. Figure for the price, would be fun to tinker with. Plus it is a pretty cool looking hard body rig. Yes, I will probably copy you haha.... Second time watching the vid for a refresher

Looks like it was fun and kept you busy for a bit. Likely pass on this model myself, still very attractive and looks fun to mod a bit.

I built a new rig using the Powerhobby/Injora LCG girder chassis. I put an Element IFS2 front end, pair with really long links out back

I just received mine, i don't know if there are differences in making of this rc from 6 months ago but I suggest only to remove the plastic leaf springs and leave the coil springs in the back because the suspension will be very loose and i didn't add the 3d bed canopy which will make the back of the car even heavier. I will make the 3d prints soon and leave additional feedback. What i did extra I put the tires in a sealed back with wd40 to soften the tires which are very bad and did the trick, i added some weight on the rims and put some hot glue in the tires because they will swallow and the rims will slip when you accelerate i also added some kitchen sponge foam in the tires but i don know if i will keep them because they make the tires hard a little bit. For now i just played in house with pillows and stuff, I can't wait to go outside after 25 December because it is a gift for my daughter and i don't want to get dirty :)) I will make also a 18650 2s li ion battery because there is room and the battery that comes with it is to small (fpv drone pilot here so i think you get why so excited :)))

Great video! Regarding waterproofing, is there any concern with the front lights? The battery itself? The servo ? What if water goes through them? Would grease help to fill the space instead of water or no measure should be taken

Also if there are Y cables, do they need to be plasti-dipped or use grease or can they all receive water?

Thanks in case anyone can offer advice

Hey, do you think those anti wrap bars can turned into a full leaf delete, like a 2 link? Cheers
