VIDEO INDEX:

0:02 - Hardware overview
2:53 - Boot / startup time demonstration
3:13 - Web browsing performance
3:45 - YouTube performance
4:12 - Octane benchmark performance
4:35 - Microsoft Word demonstration
5:19 - Minecraft performance
6:01 - BIOS settings
6:44 - Steam in home streaming
7:44 - Conclusion and final thoughts

The device performs about the same as the Intel and is fanless. Quantum Suppliers, the maker of the Access, said the device's heat sinks and overall design help to dissipate heat build up.

It comes with a fully activated copy of Windows 8.1.

In the video I test its performance with web browsing, Microsoft Word, Minecraft, Steam in Home Streaming, and step through some of the BIOS settings.

I am currently using theAzulle Quantum Access Mini PC Stick with a TOGUARD 12 inch 4:3 aspect ratio (800x600) monitor to play all my old console games through emulator. It can easily handle PS One/N64 consoles and anything older. Since it has bluetooth I also use the 8bitdo wireless NES controller with it. The 128gb sd card slot is plenty of space to store all my video game roms.

Since it lacks USB ports I got the Sabrent rotatable 4 port usb hub with it. This has become a fantastic all in one device for me. I use it to browse the web and listen to podcasts with bluetooth speakers as well.

Lon, Is pretty exciting to see your reviews on all these mini PC sticks (Intel Compute, Meego Pad and now this Quantum Access) I have a question, will these sticks work with 21" touchscreens with a USB 2.0 upstream port (for touch enablement) for example Dell 22 Touch Monitor - S2240T. I know all these sticks come with USB but not sure if the tiny device has the power enough for these large touchscreens.

Hi
Another great video as always :)
I don't really mind about price, but should i get this, the Quantum Byte, or the Intel Compute?
What would you personally recommend more?
Thanks

Kinda scary. I was just googling for this 20 minutes ago and then suddenly a review video of it sits in my Youtube sub box. :D

Hi Lon, have you by chance heard of, or run across the same type of stick but be able to run a Mac OS system. Are these types of sticks even capable of doing that. I'm not thinking of any sort of emulator, just a straight OS from the stick. Maybe Apple do not allow this to ensure only their hardware is used perhaps. Anyway, thought I'd ask. Great videos you do..

With the right software (Teamviewer, VNC, MS RDP etc.) I can remote connect to my laptop from my iPad which provides me with the mobility that the iPad offers, and the processing power of the laptop (along with some 'specific' functionality that I can only get from some Windows apps, and no, I'm not looking for a debate on Windows vs iOS)

I wonder if it is possible to use the Quantum Access without the need to connect to an HDMI display? If I'm understanding it, the QA is essentially a computer and the HDMI output is only for display, but if I remote connect to the QA with my iPad, can the QA operate in that manner?

Lon, you mentioned in another video that you would later try to get Linux to run on one of these PC on a stick.  I am very interested in that capability as my daughter has a very old PC that is 1 Gb Ram Pentium 4 and is using Linux Mint 17.1   I would like to replace it with one of these PC sticks, but only if i could install Linux Mint.
Would love to see a update video from you when (and if) you are able to get Linux to install.

May you please do a in depth review on the Mele PCG01 Windows stick. I would like to see how it truly performs before buying it. Thank you.

Its weird that my 2008 Macbook has a Geforce 9400m and it gets 263FPS on 12 chunks without optifine.

and something so small is getting closer to that FPS. Damn, technology surprises me

Greetings.
Possible to boot this device up remotely? Found out that most of these sticks force you fish the thing up from behind the tv furniture to access the power button.

Would Wake on LAN work with an adapter cable (USB to Cat 6) connected? Does the PC stick have a continues power supply from the external power adapter even when the TV is turned off?

Great review Lon! This is a really good PC for the price. I'm amazed how much performance and power can now be put together on a stick. This is not for everyone but definitely a good choice for web browsing, media consumption, etc. How much available storage have? How much extra storage can be added via SD card? Once again, thanks for the review

FYI the Quantum Access does NOT come with the hdmi gender changer.

Here is correspondance between me and the seller on Amazon.

Begin message
FROM SELLER TO BUYER
these units do not come with the adapter. those you get separately.

FROM BUYER TO SELLER
According to Lon Seidman's review. The Quantum Access was supposed to come with an HDMI gender changer in the box. As it is, I can not plug it into my tv next to my other HDMI cable from blu-ray because the HDMI inputs are too close together. Mine did not include the HDMI gender changer.

I am very sure I will forget to Shutdown the computer when I turn off the tv. What happens to the computer when this is done? Does it foul up Windows? If I was streaming a show to it and forgot to stop the show (and Shutdown) will everything stop when I turn the TV off? Also, I understand the Intel Compute Stick has an "Auto On" setting. What does that mean exactly? Does the Stick boot up automatically with this feature? Thanks

Change UEFI boot to legacy boot in bios to boot Linux, I believe should work,   and you may have to turn off fast boot as well, those things work on laptops give that a go !!
