What is interesting is that people mostly fail to understand what drives tectonic movement in the first place….. gravity. Imagine miles of ice on top of land… across the entire North America continent, suddenly removed. All the billions of tons of pressure from that ice no longer there, the land lifts up, with heavier plates pushing downward. This causes everything to shift and find neutrality. So really, Earthquakes are the result of whatever caused the ice sheet to disappear overnight
