Vauxhall (Opel) Mokka Review

Is the Vauxhall Mokka the coolest crossover of all?

The original Vauxhall Mokka sold in huge numbers despite being far from a class-leading crossover. With the all-new 2021 Mokka, Vauxhall has upped the style factor to help it remain competitive, and now offers it with both electric and petrol powertrains. In this CarGurus UK review Rebecca Jackson tests the 2021 Vauxhall Mokka with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and automatic gearbox in order to find out just how much progress this small crossover has made.

I have just got the 1.2 (week ago) Ultimate automatic in black. Nice looking car and really nice to drive with plenty of power. (Unfortunately its got to go back to the garage as Collision detection risk system is faulty.) Only real problem with car is the lane detection system. Its fine on motorways and main roads but country roads it is terrible (most of my journeys are on county roads). It constantly pulls you into the centre of the road which can be very annoying. I now switch this off each time I get in as well as the start stop. The handbrake is also annoying. If I stop a traffic lights I have to manually select to stop rolling, it is not automatic as in other cars. Overall a very nice car.

I like it when she says “I’m 5 foot 4 and a half” that half means so much to her . Awww

Actually, one of the best things about Vauxhalls is that they have real buttons and knobs where others rely more on touch screens. Vauxhall ergonics are first rate. Better than many more expensive cars. (I don't work for them or anything like that, I've just noticed how they manage to keep the basics away from being buried in technology better than other makes.)

I have this very version on order. The 1.2 Auto Sri Nav Premium. Fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on the dealers forecourt. I think a lot of people are hung up on Vauxhall's previous reputation. They are having a brand reboot and I think this car is an amazing start to that change of focus. All cars will have plus and negative aspects too them and it's a little easy to get swept away by all the car reviews and reviewers when 99% of buyers will not be judging them so closely to other cars. It will come down to personal choice on a lot of stuff, and the way a car looks is so important as many cars these days just drive very well. This Mokka comes stacked with safety tech too. Judge the car after it's been out for a while and see how the engine reliability and build quality stacks up but to pre judge it because of past Vauxhall's is unfair. I was considering a Puma but was put off by Ford's options as they are so expensive, this Vauxhall has everything I want and more. And as for build quality, have you seen the rear parcel shelf on a Puma? Probably the worst designed and flimsy piece of crap I've ever seen on a car. Which again shows every car has pros and cons. I've seen Audi and BMW's with quite baffling design quirks on them and these cars cost a hell of a lot more than this Vauxhall. So I for one can't wait to take delivery, only 5 more weeks to wait. Well done Vauxhall, in my opinion, the best looking small SUV out right now. Great review btw 👍🏼👍🏼

Bought mine last month and love it. I can't agree with the video over steering as I find it very positive in my elite nav premium 1.2 . auto. Ride is comfortable and so easy to drive.

I just ordered the 1.2 automatic ultimate. And I'm really looking forward to it. As it's my first brand new car.

I like Rebecca's reviews because her criticism is on point. I like the opel/V brand, but it is true that the back door opening is not wide enough. I bought astra 2016 and we struggle to put our toddler into his seat and even I don't find it easy to get in at the back.

Still got the old shape (2015). Love it. Seems fine enough on the road to me, but then again, I'm not testing different, sometimes much more expensive vehicles, everyday. Obviously can't compare it to the Evoque or Q5 we had, but for the price, no complaints. PS, the back seat is for children. That goes for all cars. Don't know why all these reviewers seem to think that strapping 6 footers are going to ride in the back 😄

My Brand new 71 plate arrived yesterday. Lovely car. Downsides is the input of the NAV. Unless your left handed, typing on the screen with its small buttons can be very difficult. There’s no turn style button to navigate through the screen.

Already got a launch edition petrol auto version on order and SHOULD be here around July. I’m betting more like August or later due to parts shortages (there are shortages in chips for the computer systems) and COVID still having a knock-on effect.

But the car itself... love it.

I had Vauxhall/Opel for years, but reliability issues and struggling to keep up with the competition, made me switch to Renault, I have the new Captur, and while this review is a positive restart for Vauxhall, I will be sticking with Renault, who offer far more for a better price point. A big thumbs up for the design though, well done Vauxhall.

Looks so much fresher and modern, first Vauxhall I would consider in a long time.

Vauxhall is a company that seems to struggle to keep up with the competition. This is a nice design with some pleasing details and elements. Functionality seems adequate but nothing seems to stand out other than the color cues. All black interiors are so confining and this one would be greatly improved with a lighter headliner or a panoramic sunroof. Seems like Peugeot's have more going for them and the Ford Puma still remains my personal favorite. Good review, however, covers all the bases and proves why CGs is good to watch.

Anyone wondering SRI and Elite Nav both have keyless entry and start 😉

Bought one of these SRI April 26th. Monday dashboard wouldnt light up. Called RAC by the time they came it had put itself right. Worse thing about it was RAC did not have software to connect to car its that new. Seems a good car bit smaller than our last Mokka. We should have got the NAV version but didnt the garage is changing it just waiting for delivery (not CarGurus).
Great video Thanks
