Printing techniques: drypoint

Drypoint is one of the oldest methods of art printmaking. The artist works in a copper plate by scratching the surface with sharp tools. The printing ink is then appleid to the plate, where it sticks not only to the depth of the incisions, but also to the rough edges of copper that have been created around the lines, known as the "burr". This gives the drypoint print its characteristic soft expression.

We have followed the artist Lars Nyberg in his workshop in Uttersberg as he creates a drypoint print.
