A rattlesnakes common lines of defense in order:
1: stay hidden
2: retreat and rattle
3: dry bite
4: spicy bite (last resort)

Venomous snakes take ages to produce their venom which is needed for hunting. They don't want to waste it on self defense but will do so if they're backed into a corner.

Good on you for helping that rattler and speaking out for venomous snakes. They deserve to live as much as we do and can't help that we are encroaching on their habitat. Rattlers would rather warn us of their presence than cause harm. They don't deserve to be killed.

I find all sorts of snakes on my biking trail all the time ( including rattlesnakes and tarantulas ). I always make sure they clear the trail before I proceed. They deserve your respect and protection. ❤

Every rattle snake I've seen has run away immediately. They don't want to have to bite you- the fact that they HAVE a rattle to warn you first is proof that venom is a last resort.

Thanks for clearing it off the road!

I grew up with the belief that all snakes were bad and as a kid I learned that's not true. I got a book of reptiles and I just studied the snake section because I was so afraid of snakes not terrified but I was afraid that you know they were all bad. I also thought that they were very interesting and the thing I learned was that most snakes are not there to hurt you. They don't really see you as a threat other than you can harm them and they don't want that anymore than you want them to harm you. They want to go on their way. And they want to do as little as possible to go about their day and as long as you respect them, you'll find that they're not going to harm you. And most of the snakes that are out there are good snakes. You want them around. They're there for a reason, meaning there's something there that's got their attention. They're there for rodents or other snakes and most of your good snakes will eat your bad snakes

Thank you. People dont realize that their food eats our food. Just like spiders. They do more good for us than we realize.

Saw that snake today. A big one. I was running and it was really hard to see. It scared the shiz out of me and I jumped away...right as I saw it, it balled up. I tried to scare it away but it would not. It was beautiful but yaaa....
