The timing and details around Nintendo ending support for My Nintendo Gold Points feel a bit strange to us. We may not know the full story until after the April 2 Switch 2 Nintendo Direct. Until then, they certainly won't be telling us any more! #nintendo #nintendoswitch #nintendoswitch2 #switch2

I just hope they don't get rid of Platinum points too. I NEED my custom profile icon elements

What a bummer. I’m not kidding when I say things like the gold points and the vouchers actually incentivized me to purchase games on my Switch.

I’d get a % back with my credit card and then also an additional percent back on future game purchases through gold points. It was a pretty sick deal.

This is such a weird thing for them to do and the fact they're announcing this only a month before it takes effect is even weirder.

I kinda feel like this is a good sign the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a brand new Eshop

dude I used to love using them to buy really cheap games 😢 was like a little bonus whenever you just spent $60 on a new game

This feels like when club Nintendo was discontinued, I really hope they just go back to something that much more closely resembles Club Nintendo

Thank you so much for the head’s up! I’ll be sure to use mine before they’re gone 😭

I can’t count how many times I’ve been bored, and itching for something to do and picked up a cheap indie with points

I interpret this as MyNintendo getting another revamp, and these retired feature might be considered redundant in the new system. That being said, the replacements better be mind blowing.

Well, that sucks. Gold Points were very convenient.

This is so weird. Especially since they haven't said anything about Platinum points. I'm hoping we hear something about a replacement AT the Switch 2 direct.

There is definitely something coming, and it will be better than the current rewards system.

I use platinum points for physical rewards. I hope they add games to the rewards like in the Wii days.

How is this gonna work if the NSO system is allegedly going to carry over on to Switch 2?

Also, I still think Nintendo should've increased the expiry duration up to one year after the date of a game's purchase.

I miss getting merch for stuff I purchased. Took me forever to earn enough coins to get a majora's mask puzzle

It really feels like they're starting to get a little money hungry
Back when the Wii u was around, gold coins could be used to get random little shop games and Virtual Console games and even the occasional physical gift
You were literally rewarded for buying games
They even gave out full games sometimes like when MK8 came out and you could get Pikmin 3 or NSMBU for free.
All these cool bonuses and gifts have basically stopped now with the Switch
I only hope they don't go the apple route with the switch 2 and start charging extra for a worse experience just because they can and know they can get away with it

Yeah this makes no sense you literally have to spend a bunch to even get that much of a discount on the next game

I used to have so much enthusiasm for collecting Club Nintendo points, and then when they axed it for My Nintendo, the initial lack of physical rewards was very demotivating so I stopped caring.

They seem to have fixed it now, but the club nintendo points were motivating so many of my digital purchases back in the day.

Makes a ton of sense. They give the gold coins for buying new releases. If Switch 1 first party games ends because of switch 2 then no more gold points.

I would always horde my gold coins until I needed to resub for the online, then I dump them all into that. Would usually get about 10-15 bucks off.
