I thought I recognized Helen Czerski! Honestly deep sea mining is a bad idea, a switch to more sustainable materials would be a wiser choice

Sounds perfect from the mining company's point of view, do nasty things where no one can watch you.

It is an utterly idiotic idea, we need to improve the batteries faster so we will not need so many minerals.

The answer is no as in upper case NO mining until we have a really good understanding about what role the rocks play. We should understand how they work and if we can replicate it too. They are fascinating in their own right.
There might be miles deep piles of them or just a precious scattering over the ocean floor. We don’t know enough.

Recycling existing materials would and should be the better option and limiting the resources and market power of retailers - the market it drowned with technology we think we want or for a better term, we are convinced we want but do not need. There should be heavier limitations on all the technology in the world and less of the trade your 2 year old phone in for the latest model - This mentality across the board is killing the world we live in and we will realise this too late - Maybe already too late, we already know this and do not care to change that.

You might not like the mining, but just remember, the device you are using to watch this video is the result of mining. If you say all mining should be stopped, then you are a hypocrite.
