The Crazy Horse Monument

The Crazy Horse Memorial Monument is unlike anything you've ever seen.

I was there around 1960 and it was impressive then. They said it was being built with private money and would take decades to progress. It's spectacular!

I went there when I was around 13 years old. You could just see his nose jutting out from the rock. I know it will never be completed in my lifetime, and I wish I could send a hefty donation to help keep things moving. It was really an awesome sight to my 13 year old self, seeing the outlines in the huge mountain.

The pose was inspired by a quote from Crazy Horse...He was asked where his lands were. He pointed and said My lands are where my dead lay buried.

I'm from Holland. I've been here in 1980. Still have pictures of that. they had just started the head of the Chief then. Respect for this project!

When I first saw this in 1975, I thought they would be finished by now in 2020. It has been 72 years in the making and they've completed about 10%. I don't think it will ever be finished. It's dragging out for too long a time. Current videos don't show any work being done. They spent too much money on the visitor center, restaurant etc. She better get some help.

Whether they finish it or not ( I hope they do .) IT will not matter ; Crazy Horse is Larger than any monument that man can create.

A friend of mine went there... she was so sad! It was a big mess there still not unfinished; just like the promises of all the U S treaties gone to the natives !
