Hi guys, first off thanks for your effort in sharing your expertise! I'm a recent comp.sci grad and I've been lucky enough to land my first role in an IT department. It's incredibly humbling to learn just how much I haven't learned yet (despite my fancy degree!). Going to work through certifications as I accumulate real world experience, starting with A+. These videos are a great way of summarizing what is required for the exams. Wish I'd learned about them earlier!

That tool at time 4:09 is not a voltage tester... Its a tool used by electricians to see if an outlet is wired correctly.. i use them as well when i go to homes to make repairs on TV's, microwaves, computers and other electrical and electronic system...

Please know that the yellow plugin diagnostic tool that has three lights on it is not a voltage checker; it is a polarity checker and is carried by electricians to test GFCI plugs and, of course, polarity of a 120v plug.

What about a gun heater or air dryer or heat board to soften the glue when taking out the screen to open up a phone? This isn't an essentiel?

Do techs still carry around anti-static wristwraps/mats anymore or do most of them just make sure they ground themselves before touching any sensitive hardware?

I still use IC pullers because i repair computer circuit boards and other electronic systems
